Before we take a closer look at “The Man in the Black Suit” Lori and Mistie shared how they found Sylvain Reynard’s stories and what it is about his writing that makes him so special…

How did you find Sylvain Reynard’s stories?

I wish I would have read SR’s work first. My introduction to romance was the 50 shades trilogy. I was even late to that party. After I read that , I googled other romance novels. Sylvain Reynard’s Gabriel’s Inferno repeatedly came up. I started there and read the trilogy without stop. I then read The prince and the Florentine series. I was completely enthralled with his writing.

I was writing in the Twilight fandom same time as SR was. In fact I was writing for a while and saw the banner for what would become Gabriel’s Inferno. Due to my writing it sat on my to be read list. Once I started it though, my writing took a backseat. I was enthralled.

What is it about Sylvain Reynard’s writing that you specifically love?

I love SR’s writing. The characters are richly described. The settings are also. You can visualize everything and get to know and love the characters. His writing is not easy and quick like some romance novels that concentrate on the sexual part of the story. SR’s writing makes you think, you want to think. It involves all your senses. SR introduces you to new people, places, countries, food, drink, museums and artwork. It is actually educational to me. I probably should be embarrassed by that. I’m not. I love learning. His writing is art to savor.

I love the care with which SR writes his characters. He uses descriptive elements that let your eyes see the characters habits and he is just a natural storyteller.

Many readers adore the stories created by Sylvain Reynard. In your opinion, what is it about his stories that have his readers so enthralled?

SR’s books can be read again and again. I m not sure how many times I’ve read both series. Each time I’ve read I discovered some new detail I missed before, or understood a scene better. It is not just a simple read it is genius.

SR is just really good at making relatable characters. With flaws and it helps you identify and fall for them. Or hate them. 😉

What is it about “The Man in the Black Suit” that has you so excited?

I am so excited to read The Man in the Black Suit. I m ready to experience a new piece of work, new words & new characters. It will be like opening an amazing new gift.

I’m excited about all his books 😜 but I m excited about these new characters. New places. Just gah!!

Thank you ladies for your fabulous thoughts so far.

Let’s now take a closer look at…

Acacia Santos excels at her job as concierge at the prestigious Hotel Victoire in Paris. When her superior, Marcel, is attacked in a supposed random mugging, she is tasked with serving one of the hotel’s most mysterious and attractive guests. Nicholas Cassirer checks into the hotel under an assumed name every three months. Usually, he stays in the penthouse suite with a beautiful female companion but on this occasion, he arrives alone and is displeased in having to deal with someone new. A match of wits ensues as he tests Acacia’s expertise with a series of almost impossible demands. Her intelligence and creativity rise to the challenge, earning his respect. They strike a tenuous accord until Acacia discovers a famous stolen painting in his suite, she contacts a former boyfriend who works for the elite BRB, a unit of French law enforcement that deals with art thefts. Nicholas is questioned by police and released when it is revealed the painting is a reproduction. Irked with her behavior, Acacia’s supervisor demotes her threatening dismissal and the cancellation of her work permit. But Acacia has already attracted Nicholas’ attention.

My Review

This fabulous stand alone novel is a dynamite read!!

As the storyline suggests, there is plenty of suspense, mystery, romance and intrigue. The plot unfolds in true Sylvain Reynard style – ingeniously, keeping readers enthralled and taking them on an adventurous ride.

Nicholas Cassiser is a mysterious, powerful individual and Acacia soon realizes this complex man is not all that he appears to be. But Nicholas is not the only one with secrets and withholding information.  Acacia Santos has a few surprises of her own.

As the story develops it soon becomes apparent that both Nicholas and Acacia posses their own admirable qualities while at the same time each are so wonderfully imperfect hence the journey of personal growth begins. Nicholas and Acacia are both charming characters and readers will enjoy reading their story.

Congratulations Sylvain Reynard I award this fabulous read five wonderful hearts!

As our afternoon tea party draws to an end, I’d like to ask a couple more question from our special guests today….
