A Review of Chaos

Written by

Jennifer Locklear

G’day everyone,

Welcome to Kez’s Bookshelf.

I recently caught up with the second book in the contemporary romance series Constellation aptly tilted “Chaos“. It was a great read and I thoroughly enjoyed the continuation of this series…

My Review

What would a discontented man seeking a change in his career as a means to breathe new life both professionally and personally call his existence once such a decision becomes the catalyst to so many changes (wanted and unwanted) ….Chaos!!

Chaos is the perfect title to this second book of the wonderful Constellation series by Jennifer Locklear. In this novel, through Jack’s eyes, we learn how the move to Bend, Oregon came to fruition and the affects it had on his family. With his marriage on the rocks and his growing attraction to the bombshell Kathleen Brighton (his younger, intellectual and independent colleague), Jack struggles to keep the equilibrium as he strives to move forward with his decision and build a happy life for himself and his daughter Heidi.

As Jack’s admiration for his work colleague, Kathleen, begins to grow, he recognizes her unhappiness and insecurity is embedded in her relationship with her father and their boss, Robert Brighton. Disheartened with the manner in which Robert appears to be treating his daughter, Jack strives to empower Kathleen and make her happy.

On this tightrope of equilibrium, we are provided with a glimpse of Jack’s own personal growth as he walks us through; his previous mistakes in life, building a mutual and equitable relationship with Allison, providing a safe, stable future for his daughter Heidi and fighting for that Great love that he now treasures – the love he has with Kathleen.

Congratulations Jennifer this is a wonderful read dealing with everyday complex issues in a positive and mature way. Through charismatic characters and your comprehensive writing style this series continues to be a page turner, I love these characters and I continued to think about them days after finishing this book. I look forward to what awaits us in the next novel as their story continues.

The Man in the Black Suit

Sylvain Reynard

on the release of

The Man in the Black Suit

December 19. 2017

G’day and welcome to Kez’s bookshelf everyone,

With the release of the highly anticipated new contemporary romance by one the most distinguished modern day romantic writers today, I am joined by two fellow readers, Lori and Mistie, to discuss what it is about this amazing author that has his audience bewitched and why they are so excited for the release of this new story.

The Man in the Black Suit” is a stand alone novel set in Paris and begins in the George V Hotel before taking it’s readers on a wondrous journey to various other delightful destinations throughout the world.

Please join us in a glass of champagne and a little pampering as we celebrate the release of “The Man in the Black Suit” with an afternoon tea party at the George V Paris…

 Levons nos verres….Tchin Tchin!!

Ladies and Gentleman, please put your hands together as we welcome Lori and Mistie to Kez’s Bookshelf. It’s a privilege to have these ladies here today to participate in the celebrations and share their thoughts and excitement for this new contemporary romance.

Before we take a closer look at “The Man in the Black Suit” Lori and Mistie shared how they found Sylvain Reynard’s stories and what it is about his writing that makes him so special…

How did you find Sylvain Reynard’s stories?

I wish I would have read SR’s work first. My introduction to romance was the 50 shades trilogy. I was even late to that party. After I read that , I googled other romance novels. Sylvain Reynard’s Gabriel’s Inferno repeatedly came up. I started there and read the trilogy without stop. I then read The prince and the Florentine series. I was completely enthralled with his writing.

I was writing in the Twilight fandom same time as SR was. In fact I was writing for a while and saw the banner for what would become Gabriel’s Inferno. Due to my writing it sat on my to be read list. Once I started it though, my writing took a backseat. I was enthralled.

What is it about Sylvain Reynard’s writing that you specifically love?

I love SR’s writing. The characters are richly described. The settings are also. You can visualize everything and get to know and love the characters. His writing is not easy and quick like some romance novels that concentrate on the sexual part of the story. SR’s writing makes you think, you want to think. It involves all your senses. SR introduces you to new people, places, countries, food, drink, museums and artwork. It is actually educational to me. I probably should be embarrassed by that. I’m not. I love learning. His writing is art to savor.

I love the care with which SR writes his characters. He uses descriptive elements that let your eyes see the characters habits and he is just a natural storyteller.

Many readers adore the stories created by Sylvain Reynard. In your opinion, what is it about his stories that have his readers so enthralled?

SR’s books can be read again and again. I m not sure how many times I’ve read both series. Each time I’ve read I discovered some new detail I missed before, or understood a scene better. It is not just a simple read it is genius.

SR is just really good at making relatable characters. With flaws and it helps you identify and fall for them. Or hate them. 😉

What is it about “The Man in the Black Suit” that has you so excited?

I am so excited to read The Man in the Black Suit. I m ready to experience a new piece of work, new words & new characters. It will be like opening an amazing new gift.

I’m excited about all his books 😜 but I m excited about these new characters. New places. Just gah!!

Thank you ladies for your fabulous thoughts so far.

Let’s now take a closer look at…

Acacia Santos excels at her job as concierge at the prestigious Hotel Victoire in Paris. When her superior, Marcel, is attacked in a supposed random mugging, she is tasked with serving one of the hotel’s most mysterious and attractive guests. Nicholas Cassirer checks into the hotel under an assumed name every three months. Usually, he stays in the penthouse suite with a beautiful female companion but on this occasion, he arrives alone and is displeased in having to deal with someone new. A match of wits ensues as he tests Acacia’s expertise with a series of almost impossible demands. Her intelligence and creativity rise to the challenge, earning his respect. They strike a tenuous accord until Acacia discovers a famous stolen painting in his suite, she contacts a former boyfriend who works for the elite BRB, a unit of French law enforcement that deals with art thefts. Nicholas is questioned by police and released when it is revealed the painting is a reproduction. Irked with her behavior, Acacia’s supervisor demotes her threatening dismissal and the cancellation of her work permit. But Acacia has already attracted Nicholas’ attention.

My Review

This fabulous stand alone novel is a dynamite read!!

As the storyline suggests, there is plenty of suspense, mystery, romance and intrigue. The plot unfolds in true Sylvain Reynard style – ingeniously, keeping readers enthralled and taking them on an adventurous ride.

Nicholas Cassiser is a mysterious, powerful individual and Acacia soon realizes this complex man is not all that he appears to be. But Nicholas is not the only one with secrets and withholding information.  Acacia Santos has a few surprises of her own.

As the story develops it soon becomes apparent that both Nicholas and Acacia posses their own admirable qualities while at the same time each are so wonderfully imperfect hence the journey of personal growth begins. Nicholas and Acacia are both charming characters and readers will enjoy reading their story.

Congratulations Sylvain Reynard I award this fabulous read five wonderful hearts!

As our afternoon tea party draws to an end, I’d like to ask a couple more question from our special guests today….

To a reader who has never read a Sylvain Reynard story, what should they expect?

A new reader of SR should expect to be absorbed, involved and carried away in a wonderful adventure.

With SR’s writing a new reader can expect really rich, honest writing. The characters become part of your life. It’s a craving to spend time with them more than once.

If you could define Sylvain Reynard’s writing in five words what would you choose?

Five words to describe Sylvain Reynard:

Brilliant, wordsmith, kind, caring & funny.

5 words. Best selling author, Sylvain Reynard. 😘

The Florentine Series by Sylvain Reynard

The Florentine Series

Paranormal Romance

Written by the Prestigious

Sylvain Reynard

G’day Everyone,

Welcome back to Kez’s bookshelf

Today, I wish to pay homage to this incredible love story and it’s creator.

Sylvain Reynard is no ordinary author. He is an exceptionally gifted storyteller and his penmanship outstanding.

To award The Florentine Series five stars, is simply not enough for this phenomenal read….

The Florentine series is a paranormal romance set in the wonderful city of Florence. It’s a gothic tale about the mysterious vampyre William York  who happens to be the Prince of the Florentine underworld and ruler of his principality. One fateful evening he is drawn to the most delightful scent he’s ever encountered.  As he reaches it’s source, he finds himself unexpectedly captivated by a pair of the most beautiful green eyes that belong to Raven Wood. Hence begins the powerful love story of two most improbable lovers and their fight to stay together…..

As I ponder  The Florentine series…

I’m reminded of the Frankie Goes to Hollywood song – The Power of Love.

Let’s take a closer look at the three novels that make up the series more detail:

Within the first novel of the series, we are introduced to Raven Wood – who works at the Uffizi gallery as an art restorer. A compassionate young woman with a courageous spirit, she is also known for the selfless act of putting others first, even before her own safety. Raven is a curvaceous woman of beauty who happens to walk with the aid of a cane. Her diversity is her strength. She is a wonderful heroin and a very relatable character for many female readers.

In the beginning, we learn of that fateful night that begins in tragedy and changes destiny’s course for both Raven and William. As Raven discovers William’s supernatural abilities, she is drawn into his dangerous world of vampyres, hunters and the Curia. The underworld is cold, calculated and full of traitors eager to see William’s demise. As the Prince of Florence, his principality is a prize for any ambitious vampyre.

With his priceless Botticelli’s illustrations of Dante’s The Divine Comedy safely back in his possession, William endeavors to uncover the thief and seek revenge against Professor Emerson for having once possessed what was rightfully his. Which proves to be more difficult than he envisioned.

The Shadow

The mystery and intrigue woven into the Florentine series continues in the second novel of the series  – ‘The Shadow’. It is masterfully crafted in true Sylvain Reynard style and is one of my personal favourite SR novels.

While the storyline continues to takes place in the underworld of Florence, incorporating renaissance history, art and architecture in true Sylvain Reynard style. Many thought provoking questions and innuendos brought to the forefront are answered. Additional revelations are also uncovered as William and Raven fight adversity to remain together and allow their love to flourish. In all the turmoil and angst to keep William’s greatest weakness (his love for Raven) a secret from his enemies, he is losing control over his principality fast.

But of course, not all the secrets are revealed within “The Shadow’, leaving readers in great anticipation for what was to come in the final installment of the series….

Every once in a while a novel comes along that is so profound, so compelling, it will have you reeling. The final novel to this incredible series is most definitely that book.

The Roman‘ is fast paced and the suspense is intense!! It’s a rollercoaster of emotions as the improbable lovers fight to remain together and William desperately tries to protect both Florence and Raven.

While we know ‘The Roman’ is a story about trust, betrayal, love and redemption. There were two other prominent elements to this tale – ‘courage’ and ‘the power of love’. There is no doubt that Raven is one valiant young woman, but it’s William’s courage that comes to the forefront in ‘The Roman’.

As you follow William and Raven on their arduous journey, their emotions become yours – anguish, fear, happiness, contentment. When the hairs on Raven’s neck are raised, you’ll feel them. And when there are tears of sadness or tears of joy, you’ll shed them.

The Roman‘ most definitely delivers the epic ending The Florentine series deserves. In fact it’s beyond epic!!

I highly recommend Sylvain Reynard and believe his penmanship makes him one of the best new age lyrical writers of today. The phenomenal ‘The Florentine Series’ is simply unforgettable and a perfect read for those new to the paranormal genre….

Constellation by Jennifer Locklear

Jennifer Locklear

on the release of your

stellar new contemporary romance novel

G’day Everyone,

Welcome back to Kez’s bookshelf. What a great evening it is here at Kakadu National Park Australia. Grab your swag and join us around the campfire. Tom has the billy brewing, so we’ll soon be enjoying a nice cup of Australian bush tea.

Lay back and make yourself comfortable. Take in the beauty of the southern evening sky as we discuss this stellar new novel “Constellation” by Jennifer Locklear.  Perhaps even ponder what could be written in the stars for you….

Title: Constellation

Author: Jennifer Locklear

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: October 20

She’s intelligent, beautiful, and emotionally numb.

He’s older, sophisticated, and harboring secrets.

Up-and-coming executive, Kathleen Brighton is ready to launch her family’s firm into the next level of success. Polished and professional on the outside, Kathleen’s personal life is a source of constant struggle and letdown. But after one night alone with Jack Evans, her sexy new colleague, her life takes a turn toward erotic intensity.

Torn between her instinct to guard herself and her irresistible desire for Jack, Kathleen has only known heartache. And when she finds herself in the middle of a shattering personal crisis, she must trust fragile and uncertain bonds to survive. Will Kathleen conquer the demons of her past to find a future worth fighting for?

In the beginning, lust is alive and well between Kathleen and Jack that leads to a number of steamy and intense moments between our stars crossed lovers. But these encounters quickly develop into something far more substantial and as both come to terms with what this means. Kathleen, who is more comfortable with people at arm’s length, is quickly bonding with Jack’s witty and charismatic daughter Heidi. And just as the planets appear to be aligning for the three to build a future together (as often can be the case in real life), the cosmos has different plans….

The character development in the story is compelling and really well done. While Kathleen and Jack are very likeable characters, Heidi’s charisma is heart warming and Kitty Hawke their domestic feline – is puss with attitude. As a reader, you very quickly form a fond attachment with these characters and when the unexpected occurs you’ll weep with them.

There are great quips throughout the story which hint at the author’s witty sense of humour that will sure to make you giggle.  All in all this was a fabulous contemporary read and I award it five dazzling stars.

Book Review for Roman Crazy by Alice Clayton & Nina Bocci

Alice Clayton & Nina Bocci

Roman Crazy listed

‘Best Romance of the Month September 2016’

by Goodreads

Released September 13, 2016

Buongiorno tutti,

Today we are in Rome as we celebrate the release of this delightful little read titled ‘Roman Crazy’. We have saved you a seat with an incredible view. Please sit back and relax while Tom pours you a glass of limoncello…Saluti!

Of course an evening view such as this is not complete without some Italian music to set the ambiance. Please press play and enjoy ‘O Sole Mio’ courtesy of Tuscan Trio while reading through the synopsis and review for this great little five hearts treasure.                                                                                                                                                ❤💚❤💚❤

Avery Bardot steps off the plane in Rome, looking for a fresh start. She’s left behind a soon-to-be ex-husband in Boston and plans to spend the summer with her best friend Daisy, licking her wounds—and perhaps a gelato or two. But when her American-expat friend throws her a welcome party on her first night, Avery’s thrown for a loop when she sees a man she never thought she’d see again: Italian architect Marcello Bianchi.

Marcello was the man—the one who got away. And now her past is colliding with her present, a present where she should be mourning the loss of her marriage and—hey, that fettuccine is delicious! And so is Marcello…

Slipping easily into the good life of summertime in Rome, Avery spends her days exploring a city that makes art historians swoon, and her nights swooning over her unexpected what was old is new again romance. It’s heady, it’s fevered, it’s wanton, and it’s crazy. But could this really be her new life? Or is it just a temporary reprieve before returning to the land of twin-set cardigans and crustless sandwiches?

Thinking of a trip to Italy, perhaps you’re about to begin your vacation and looking for that perfect read to accompany you? Or are you looking for a heart warming story to provide a little escapism from everyday life? Then look no further, this little gem is it!!

Roman Crazy is a wonderful read about life’s second chances. With a dreamy Italian man (whose name rolls off the tongue like caramel chocolate) and a burning desire to rekindle an artistic flare, Avery soon finds herself faced with two of them.

Marcello is the gorgeous Italian man from Avery’s past and he is passionate with a capital (P). Couple this with Avery’s own passionate nature and the connection is dynamite. Both Avery and her friend Daisy are sassy chicks, which leads to some fabulous quips within their dialogue and many great giggles along the way.

This page-turner is hard to put down, with the wonderful descriptions of sights and scenery as well as the incredibly delicious food mentioned throughout; you’ll soon be transported to Rome and living this adventure alongside Avery.

Congratulations to Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci, this is a most enjoyable read, I award it five heart warming stars and highly recommend it.

I’m looking forward to what’s ahead for our broads abroad!

The Fox Rocks the Guest Speaker’s box

Sylvain Reynard

The Sly Fox

Steps onto the ‘guest speaker’s’ box

in Kez’s bookshelf

Hi Everyone,

What a wonderful surprise I have to share with you all today. During the week Kez’s Bookshelf sat down with NYT Bestselling Author and a favourite storyteller of many avid readers….Sylvain Reynard.

Come and join me by the warm fire as I relive this special moment…..

Hello SR and welcome to Kez’s bookshelf.

Please, take a seat in the Chesterfield high back wing chair and warm yourself by the open fire. Tom has a lovely glass of Laphroaig 18 waiting for you, relax and make yourself at home.

I wish it was springtime; we could be sitting outside in the garden. But since it’s cold and wet, why don’t we bring a little springtime in doors…(Andre Rieu’s Nightingale Serenade, softly fills the room)

Andre Rieu Nightingale Serenade

Thank you so much for joining me today SR, you are the most prestigious guest I’ve had the pleasure of featuring on this blog, it’s an absolute privilege, and I appreciate your time today.

Thank you for inviting me to join you and your readers. I’m honoured to be with you.

It is of course, no secret that you are my favourite writer and I regard you in the highest esteem. Those people who have read your stories will understand why, while those who are yet to experience an ‘SR’ adventure have so much to look forward to. But there is so much more behind the great storyteller and online persona of SR and today I wish to highlight that.

Firstly, congratulations on building such a wonderfully warm and friendly online community, it is always such a pleasure to interact with you and fellow readers online. One aspect about your online persona that I most admire is your inclusiveness and ability to treat everyone with equality.  In today’s society, this is fast becoming a rare attribute. Why is it so important to you to foster such a warm and open environment?

Part of this stems from my core values – respect for all human beings, a desire to be an instrument of peace, etc. Beyond that, I try to create an environment that I will enjoy, knowing that others will likely enjoy it too.

At times I’ve seen you tweet comments like “Success should be shared” and “There is enough success for everyone”. You have actively supported others to become writers and follow their dreams (whatever they might be) and I’ve seen people grow with your success. As people strive for their own success in life why do you think it’s important to remember – success should be shared?

Several of these messages were a reaction to a negative, competitive trend I’d observed. It’s important for authors to realize that we can share readers and be successful; we don’t need to denigrate other authors and their work in order to improve sales and attract readers. We can be positive and encouraging to one another and be successful at the same time.  A positive, collaborative environment contributes to everyone’s success and to the happiness of writers and readers alike.

I am very proud to say I’ve been an active reader and follower in your online community for a number of years now. During this time I’ve heard many people say that you have made them strive to be a better person (myself included), many lifelong friendships have formed because of this online community you foster. How does it make you feel, knowing you have made such a positive impact on people’s lives and what would you like to say to all your followers and supporters?

First, I want to say thank you for reading. The readers have created the community, along with me, and made this space welcoming and positive.
I’m gratified that the community has had a positive influence. Like many others, I worry about the state of our world. I worry about injustice, persecution, poverty, and illness. If I can contribute in any way to helping address these issues then that is the greatest reward I can have as a human being.

There are many facets to joy and pain, like love and loss, each of us will experience them throughout our lives. Those of us who have read the Gabriel’s Inferno series know that Professor Emerson is very familiar with all four. With this in mind, if there was a secret recipe to living a good life, what do you think Professor Emerson would suggest it contains?

Friendship is one of the most important ingredients to a good life. You can’t thrive as a human being without friendship. It’s also important to choose one’s friends wisely. A good friend can be supportive and also challenging, when necessary. I also think charity and service to others are essential to a good life and I believe Professor Emerson would agree with me.

Many of your readers have described your stories (especially Gabriel’s Inferno) as ‘life changing’ why do you think this is so?

It may be because through my writing I try to address issues that human beings care about. It may be because each of my novels explores the theme of redemption and so overall the stories are positive and hopeful. I’m grateful that readers have enjoyed the novels.

As a well read individual yourself SR, are there any stories you’ve read that has had the same ‘life changing’ effect for you?

A lot of my reflections on justice, grace, and mercy were shaped by Victor Hugo’s novel “Les Misérables.”

What is your most loved childhood story?

Probably “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe” by CS Lewis.

The Florentine Series draws to an end in December with the release of The Roman, this paranormal romance has been a thrilling ride about the dark and mysterious William York and his love Raven Wood. The plot is brilliantly written with many twists and turns along the way, I have the feeling it’s building to a wonderful crescendo. Is there anything you can share about this final book and what have you enjoyed the most about writing The Florentine Series?

On social media I posted a short teaser of one word “Prague.” One thing I can share about The Roman is that the novel takes us beyond Florence to Umbria and to Rome, as well as to Prague and a few other secret places. The novel is about trust, betrayal, love, and redemption and includes perhaps one of the most challenging scenes I’ve ever written. I think readers will enjoy it.

What is next for Sylvain Reynard? You have mentioned briefly in our twitterverse there is a new series on the horizon, is there anything about this new series you can share with us today?

I can’t say too much about it just yet but what I can tell you is that I am writing a new series, it is a contemporary romance and at least one of the novels will be set in Paris. I hope to share more about this soon in a formal announcement.

Are we likely to see any characters from either Gabriel’s Inferno or The Florentine Series?

Yes – more than one.

Like all good things, sadly we’ve come to the end of our interview. But before we say goodbye, I’d like to thank you again for joining us today SR. It’s been truly wonderful. To sign off, I like to leave readers with a thought provoking message about love and life. If William York were to leave us message how would it read?

Love is greater than you can imagine and can do far more than you ever dreamed.

Thank you SR, for your time, generosity, kindness, wisdom and your beautiful words.

I hope you all enjoy this very special post as much as I’ve enjoyed bringing it to you.

Until next time

A Review of Exposure & Special Previews of The Locklear’s Upcoming Novels

G’day everyone,

Thanks for joining me on the red carpet. Today I bring you something really special. A wonderful experience is planned for you, in which both Tom (currently handing out cocktails) and I are ecstatic about. It will be an opportunity to mingle with movies stars and meet the wonderful authors who created them. We are so pleased you brought your cameras and your autograph books, this will be a moment to remember and you’ll want to capture it the best way you can.

While we wait for our special guests, let’s take a seat in the foyer and chat a little about the significance of these movie star characters and their wonderful creators Jennifer and Morgan Locklear.

The movie stars and their witty and intelligent publicist are the main characters in the delightful contemporary romance story titled  Exposure. However, before we explore this little beauty in more detail, I want to tell you about its wonderful authors.

This is a debut novel for Jennifer and Morgan who are partners in life as well as co-authors to Exposure.  I am very fortunate to know a little about the writers and have heard them in interview via La Literati podcasts. Both Jennifer and Morgan possess a wonderful zest for life and their presence is a real ‘breath of fresh air’.  It’s a quality that transmits through their storytelling and has a real presence in Exposure. The story is a delightful light-hearted read and I guarantee you will love it.

41mmO6FLOVL._SX320_BO1,204,203,200_ (1)

You may have noticed that Tom is buzzing around with much excitement today; he’s just as enthusiastic as I am to meet our special guests. You see, Tom is also very familiar with this novel and loved the story as much as I did. We shared many moments over afternoon tea, discussing the storyline and sharing a chuckle or two over the many humourous moments within the story. The extra delight for Tom was to learn that one of characters is a car enthusiast. Tom has a dream to own a 1967/68 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 one day…

There are many muscle cars mentioned within the story and what a thrill it was to read the car enthusiast possessed a Ford Shelby Mustang. Therefore, it’s fair to say Tom is quite eager to have the opportunity to talk…car talk.

Let’s now take a closer look at the storyline to this little beauty…

41mmO6FLOVL._SX320_BO1,204,203,200_ (1)

Publicist Shaunna Noble is no stranger to the ego-filled dysfunction of Hollywood’s elite, but is she ready for her two biggest clients to turn into her worst nightmare?

Kyle Petersen and Michelle Cooper are Hollywood royalty, everyone’s favorite celebrity couple, but while on location filming their new summer blockbuster, Kyle ambushes his wife with divorce papers and orders Shaunna to destroy Michelle in the media. Unwilling to comply, Shaunna spectacularly and publicly quits her job, humiliating Kyle in the process.

David Quinn, a struggling actor cast alongside the A-listers, is caught in the crossfire. When pictures surface of David and Michelle out on the town, media and fans rush to crown them Hollywood’s new hot couple. Kyle explodes, tensions boil over, and everyone’s lives and careers are thrown into jeopardy.

So what’s a publicist to do? Especially when Shaunna finds herself falling in love with the sexy and talented David. Can she put out fires on the set while keeping the flames burning in the bedroom?

Love, lies and passion. What happens when the naked truth is exposed?

My Review

This wonderful read contains more than the main stream contemporary romance story and has something for everyone. Humour, romance, drama, movie stars, great one-liners, movie references, muscle cars and delightful characters you’ll just love. Of course there is also a villain that you’ll love to hate…who is still in search of his TV remote!

The story is witty, well written and refreshing. I giggled a lot, sometimes laughing out loud and I found myself cursing at the villain. Who does get his just-desserts in more ways than one.

If you’re looking for that quick read to lighten your mood and brighten your day, than this is the story for you. It’s an ideal story to pack in your suitcase and take on vacation; the giggles are contagious and those around you will soon want to know just what you’re reading.

I give Exposure five ‘revved-up, star-dazzling’ stars!!

Congratulations Jenn and Morgan on the success of Exposure it’s a wonderful story you must be so proud.

What inspired you to write about Hollywood?

Morgan and Jennifer: Like most people, we’ve always been interested in pop culture. Movies, television, books and music are all things we enjoy, but we would never say we’ve been obsessed with the celebrity culture. Morgan has spent much of his life actively involved in live theatre and was able to take those human experiences and transfer them to our fictional movie set, but the entire novel generated from just one image in Jennifer’s mind. Specifically, it was the moment when Shaunna Noble quits her job as Kyle Petersen’s publicist, storms out of his movie trailer and tosses all of his clothing to the fans gathered nearby.

Jennifer: didn’t really understand who Shaunna was or why she was so angry at the movie sstar, but it was obvious that the blow up was taking place on a movie set. The rest of the novel was developed around that one moment – finding out what events led up to the outburst, trying to understand how someone could be driven to such rash action and wondering about what would happen to Shaunna in the aftermath of such an explosion

What’s next for you both?

Jennifer: I’m writing a story I’ve entitled ‘Constellation’. It’s a May to December contemporary romance set in Central Oregon. The story begins with the two main characters, Jack and Kathleen, having just given in to the temptation of mutual attraction.  The rest of the novel explores how this one spontaneous event alters Kathleen’s perception of her universe. When I initially began writing it I thought Jack would be a man of mystery, but the deeper I get into the story the more I realize that Kathleen is the one with all the secrets. I’m almost done writing the manuscript and have determined that I actually have a series in the making. I’m outlining two more books and even have an idea for a fourth book. This project has me very excited right now and I’m hoping to publish the first book later this year. Here’s an unedited excerpt from the opening of the story:

Morgan: I’m currently conducting what I call a “squeegee edit” on a novel called ‘Connection’.  It’s a romance and a ghost story that takes place mostly on the N train in New York City. I establish new rules for ghosts while reinforcing some of my old favorites. It’s going to be more dramatic than any of my previous efforts and hopefully scary in parts.  Here is the first page:

You make a great team, will we see another co-authored novel from you both?

Jennifer: Probably. Morgan has come up with two story ideas that he’d like me to help him develop and craft. Mouth of the Mediterranean will be a caper and will take place in the early sixties.  Harvest Moon is a love story that takes place on a lunar mining colony. No doubt that concept was influenced by Sling Shot (the fictional SciFi movie produced by our characters in Exposure).

Thank you so much for your time today Jenn and Morgan. You have both been so generous with your responses and I’m honoured to feature previews of your upcoming novels.

Both Constellation and Connection sound amazing and I wish you every success. Thanks again for this privilege today, I’m truly honoured.

The Record of My Heart by Georgina Guthrie

G’day everyone,

Welcome to the final review of the Words series by Georgina Guthrie.

Come through to the living room and join me for a glass of champaign as we celebrate this wonderful contemporary romance series. Keep an eye out for the smartly dressed Tom…

he shall be walking around with a tray of horderves so please, help yourselves.

So let’s take a closer look at:

The Record of My Heart

My overall rating

Daniel Grant desperately wants Aubrey Price, a woman he can’t have—at least not for two long months. He could give up and walk away, but he won’t. Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, he waits.

And while he waits…he writes.

Through a series of journals and letters, The Record of My Heart traces Daniel’s romantic contemplations, what he calls “the secret musings of a man tumbling headfirst in love…”

My Review

Let me just say, if you were not convinced after Better Deeds than Words (the second novel to the series) that Sailor is in fact up there with the ultimate ‘swoon worthiness of book boyfriends’ – you will be after reading The Record of My Heart.

Inspired by a group of letters that his Grandfather wrote for Patty, Daniel decides to pen his own series of love letters and journals as he waits for the time he and Aubrey can be together.

During this process, he relates his affection for Poppet to various works of Shakespeare and Keats. Highlights for me included Henry VIII as he pined for Anne Boleyn…

…absence gives enough, and more than I ever thought could be felt…”

And then there was John Keats and as Sailor describes “his epic love letters to Fanny Brawne. His affection for her turned him into a lovesick wretch” I love that Daniel associates with this and further more…

I cannot exist without you – I am forgetful of everything but seeing you again-my life seems to stop there- I see no further…

…My creed is love and you are its only tenet-you have ravish’d me away by a power I cannot resist.

So tell me you’re not swooning now!!

If you’re not…I don’t believe you.

There are many more passages I’d love to quote to you, but I think you deserve to read Daniel’s musings for yourself. I will however, point you to my favourite journal entry which is Wednesday April 22. What a total sweetheart!  Daniel…I think I love you!

After reading the whole Words series, the ending of The Record of My Heart is wonderful…I loved it and by then I was a blubbering mess. I can only imagine that Aubrey would have been exactly the same way.

Thank you Georgina Guthrie, for your wonderful words. You take your readers on a delightful journey and leave us with a sense of hope that real gentlemen DO exist as well as good old fashioned romance.

The Truest of Words by Georgina Guthrie

G’day from not so sunny WA,

If you recently celebrated Easter, I hope you enjoyed your weekend festivities.

What a cold and rainy day.  Allow me to take your coat, Tom is waiting by the fire with a warm drink and your favourite chair awaits you. Please make yourself comfortable.

As we continue our review of The Words series by Georgina Guthrie, we take a closer look at the third novel The Truest of Words.  Before we do, let’s just recap the journey through Better Deeds Than Words…

While Daniel and Aubrey promise to pursue their romance, Dean Grant learns of their intimate liaison. Aubrey is forced to pledge that she will keep away from Dean Grant’s Son and Daniel promises not to shower Aubrey with expensive gifts.  Going to great lengths, Daniel adopts charming and creative ways to demonstrate his growing love and commitment to Aubrey. And the couple are secretly supported by a growing number of friends and family.

Let’s now critique the delightful…

 Truest of Words

With the end of term finally behind them, Aubrey and Daniel look forward to building a life together. A painful realization that they can’t truly embrace the future until they’ve come to terms with the past leads them to discover the healing potential of forgiveness and the power of unconditional love.

Like the first two books in the series, The Truest of Words is a romantic tale that blends witty banter with passion and drama.

 My Review

Truest of Words sees the conclusion to this beautiful love story. Daniel is such a sweetheart and continues to be a ‘swoonworthy’ book boyfriend. As readers, we have come to fondly recognise Aubrey and Daniel by their affectionate pet names; Poppet and Sailor. We have seen their relationship grow and be accepted by friends and family, while also witnessing other relationships blossom around them. Furthermore, their journey entails personal growth that tells a wonderful story of mercy, compassion and unconditional love. Works of Shakespeare continue to feature throughout and as a reader it has made for a delightful experience…

“Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love.”
~ William Shakespeare (Hamlet)
